Hello, I am Fiona

I am an artist, teacher and mother.

Underlying my art is a passion for authentic expression, colour and creativity. My love affair with art and all things creative began at an early age. My first creative inspirations were Hollywood musicals and artists from the the Impressionism and Post Impressionism era. Further inspirations have been gathered over the years via my travels and experiences of different cultures.

I paint intuitively. My process is one of building up layers of colour and texture with watercolours, acrylic paint and ink. I work with a combination of thick and transparent layers of colour often allowing the foundation layers to show through.

I like to experiment and play and believe it’s the quirks and imperfections in the art that add sincerity, depth and value to my work. My paintings are often characterized by a mixture of colours, splashes, drips and have a luminous quality.

I believe the process of creating is important and rewarding to me. Life is much more fulfilling when we are in regular touch with our creative source. I create because I feel compelled to and love to share this passion with others.

My daughter and I moved to Melbourne in January, 2022. She is currently training at The Australian Ballet School and chasing big dreams of her own.

Things I LOVE about Melbourne:

☆I enjoy looking at the the city lights. It reminds me of Christmas trees lit up all year round.

☆The Yarra River and The Botanical Gardens are lovely to walk around. In every season there is something to see and enjoy.

☆The cultural diversity and creativity. I love to see people from all walks of life sometimes with a violin or cello case strapped to their back. Musicians, dancers, performers and artists are everywhere.

☆The smell of freshly brewed coffee in the morning when people are going to work.

☆SHOWS....love them. So far we have been able to watch Anna Karenina, An American in Paris and Moulin Rouge. So much inspiration and talent. We hope to be able to see many more!

☆Melbourne is a culinary delight. I enjoy exploring the cafes and restaurants. Looking at the ever changing fashions and browsing the galleries.

MISSY MAKO

Meet a very important member of the family our fur baby Mako. She was named after a favourite television show at the time. “Mako Mermaids”

We have since found out there is a Japanese princess who shares the same name and it also refers to the world’s most aggressive shark. She definitely is more of a princess than shark! Although our slippers from her early days will tell you a different story!
